All Plaza Assisted Living communities are private pay only and licensed Assisted Living Facilities. Depending on the type of coverage under an individual’s Long Term Care (LTC) Policy, the cost to live at The Plaza may or may not be partially or fully covered. About 30% of Plaza Residents utilize LTC insurance to subsidize or cover their rental and care costs.
Once you’ve decided to make The Plaza your home, there are a few steps that need to be taken prior to moving in.
- Place a deposit on your available desired apartment
- Schedule and complete a nursing assessment
- Compete standard admission paperwork
- Provide a negative COVID-19 test result (from approved test taken within 72 hours of move in)

Yes, children may visit but all visitors over the age of two must wear a mask.
Compassionate care visits also known as end-of-life visits are allowed at all times.
Due to COVID, our volunteer program is currently on hold.
Safety at The Plaza
No. All visitors must pass an entrance screening prior to visiting. Any visitor who is positive for COVID-
19 or who is showing symptoms of illness will be turned away.
An outbreak is defined as 2 or more positive COVID-19 cases of team members and/or residents in a
community.
Visitors are strongly discouraged from visiting during an outbreak, but will be permitted to visit at their
own risk. The community will continue to disclose if they are experiencing an outbreak and will make
this known to any visitor who opts to enter the community.
If a resident is unvaccinated or immunocompromised and resides in a private apartment, they will be
allowed visitors, however, all visiting individuals must be wearing a mask at all times.
If the unvaccinated or immunocompromised resident resides in a shared apartment with a bedroom
door that closes, their roommate may have visitors so long as the visit occurs only in the roommate’s
bedroom with the door closed. Visitors may not utilize the apartment bathroom or common area space
such as the kitchenette.
If the unvaccinated or immunocompromised resident resides in a shared apartment without a bedroom
door that closes (applicable on the care floors in shared apartments at The Plaza at Punchbowl only),
visits for both roommates should not occur in the apartment. A designated visiting area will be
identified for the visit to be conducted in an alternate location.
Yes, you must wear a mask properly at all times. The only exception is if the resident and all their guests
are vaccinated and resident is not moderately or severely immunocompromised, they may choose not
to wear face coverings or masks and have physical contact.
Visitors may be asked about their vaccination status, however, visitors are not required to be tested or
vaccinated (or show proof of such) as a condition of visitation. If the visitor declines to disclose their
vaccination status, the visitor should wear a face covering or mask at all times.
While guidance has changed along the way, there have been four (4) main preventative activities practiced and supported at The Plaza Assisted Living to help stop the spread of COVID-19.
- All Residents, Team Members, Visitors, and Vendor Partners, must wear a face mask and/or face shield (required for Team Members) at all times while occupying common areas within the community.
- All Residents, Team Members, Visitors, and Vendor Partners, must sanitize their hands upon entering the community and are encouraged to regularly sanitize their hands throughout the day.
- All Residents, Team Members, Visitors, and Vendor Partners are required to practice social distancing when occupying common areas within the community.
- Protocols for cleaning and sanitizing the common areas and high touch surfaces have increased. Cleaning products include commercial-grade solutions that are known to kill the COVID-19 virus.
We also actively continue to train and retrain our Team Members, Residents, and Families on all recommended safety measures as it relates to COVID-19 via our Project SHINE Program. Project SHINE is a program created by The Plaza in 2020 to bring the latest education and guidance surrounding COVID-19 to its Residents, Families, and Team Members.
At The Plaza, we understand that keeping our Residents and Families connected, especially during these unprecedented times, is a priority. We are committed to providing safe visitation options and helping our Residents stay in touch with their loved ones. Here are a few changes to keep an eye out for:
- In-person visits are welcome within a Resident’s private apartment, room, or designated area within the community.
- Virtual visits Plaza Team members are available to facilitate virtual visits with Residents and their loved ones via Skype, FaceTime and Zoom by appointment.
- Sagely App Plaza Families can get daily text or email updates on the activities their loved ones are participating in at The Plaza.
- Telephone We encourage telephone communication as a means of staying in touch. If a Resident does not have a personal telephone or cellular phone, a Resident courtesy phone is available.
- Letters, Cards and Photos Residents and their loved ones are also encouraged to mail hand written letters and cards, and send photos when possible.
It is strongly recommended not to visit, but this will be allowed. The visit will only occur in the resident’s
apartment and the resident should wear a well-fitting facemask (if tolerated). Before visiting, visitors
should be made aware of the potential risk of visiting and precautions necessary. Visitors should come
with their own Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as the community will not provide PPE for visitors.
Yes, if you can comply with Hawaii’s Safe Travels program and provide proof of compliance.
